    final full day in SaoPaulo! we are pretty excited about this fact. especially as we are heading to the beach side city of Fortaleza tomorrow!! jess and I headed to Ibirapuera park, about 1km from our hostel. such a beautiful park right in the middle of the city.aamazing how much fresher the air felt as soon as we entered the park. it also seemed as though everyone was there- it didn't look like many people ...

    ... there was a section of the crowd who were dancing and singing to the beat of samba drums and took off their shirts and starting waving in the air each time their team scored. They didn't even stop when their team conceded a goal! We wrapped up the day with a caipirinha and a beer to avoid a torrential thunder storm in one of the many street side cafe/bars which we love to visit. Whilst admiring the lightening show outside, it was a great way to cap off our last day in Sao Paulo. ...

    ... two blocks and found some well lit shelter. And then we laughed pretty hard. It had been a bit of a comedy of errors. With the rain slacking a little, we decided to end our journey back to campus. We made it back, took one look at the other person and decided a movie was no longer the best plan for the evening. Instead we decided it was time for us each to return home to our own warm showers and warmer, dryer clothes. Enough adventure for one night :)

    ... lad who spoke fluent English, he gave us directions but then decided to go the whole hog and walk us there, what a hero!! Never have we wanted our bed so much. That morning was intense in 34 degree heat, smog and people everywhere. Annoyingly our room wasn't ready so we had to hang around for 1 hour whilst the maid cleaned it. Once in we both crashed out for 4 hours.
