... city at 5:00 in the morning or a stroll along the sand on the beach, I always have the potential to make an impact on people and let them impact me. This island, my friends, the hospital and this culture have impacted me significantly more than I thought they would, and I can only hope that I could do the same for them. ... Laguna, the doctors were very concerned about the baby's development, but they induced her labor (for reasons I don't really know the details of). She ended up having the baby at 26 weeks--last Friday--and now she's recovering on the unit. Who would have thought Tenerife would be the place to try on my 'travelling boots' once again; it is not a back packers place of discovery, adventure or contact with the indigenous population but it is away and somewhere I had not yet visited.

The four hour flight from Gatwick was wonderful, (mainly because I had spent too long grounded in the UK), regretfully the airport assistance was needed to transfer me from the check-in to the aircraft. ...

      Week3---WEEKEND---week4

... trip, and since it's been awhile since any of us have had semi-American food, we all dug in.

The next morning, we went on a hike in a northern part of the island called Teno--a mountainous region. Since we were at such a high elevation, the vegetation was very similar to that of deserts--all kinds of cactus and weird flowers/shrubs that only grow in places where water is in short supply. The views from the trail were totally amazing; we were right on the edge of the ...
