This village formed part of the defence in they Napoleonic war and also had a radar base set up there during the Second World War to help with the air defence. In and around Plymouth today drove to Lands End, Penzance , St Michaels mount and St Ives. Very interesting countryside. Weather was not great really only our second or third really rainy day in a couple of months. Departed Brighton this morning for trip to Salisbury Plains and Stpnehenge. Far more touristy than 35 years ago with a visitors centre, museum bus link to site etc. Very popular venue however and quite well done with individual explanatory radios. Rest of day driving through green countryside in beautiful weather to Plymouth - on afternoon drove to Dartmore national park for dinner on pub on the moores, good nights entertainment and meal ...

To be quite honest, the reason was because the hostels in London are ridiculously expensive (about AUD$80 a night for a dodgy 8 person dorm room), and there were no other hostels left anywhere other than Cardiff or Plymouth. I figured that the likelyhood of me ending up in Cardiff at some point in the next 2 years was higher ...
