Travel Blogs from Playa del Carmen

Ruined and Sweaty.

A travel blog entry by mattmantle

Wednesday morning, we were on a bus for 8.30am headed to Palenque to do our ruins tour with a local guide. It wasn't the biggest ruins site I’ve seen, but it’s setting amongst the jungle canopy was pretty impressive. I love just wandering around ruins and getting lost for hours, so an organised guide is a bit at odds with what I’m used to, but I went with it, and it was pretty interesting on the whole. Buses and Blockades

A travel blog entry by mattmantle

We set off from Merida at about 7.45 in the morning, to get our public transport to Palenque. Must admit I wasn't sure what to expect from a local Mexican bus for 9 hours, but actually it was way more comfortable thank the private bus we had before. Reclining seats and air con are a winner.

Wreck dive (1 more adventure dive tick!)

A travel blog entry by mini_v

Bright early start for everyone today at 8.30am - Angelos and I headed to Tank-Ha dive shop and Elina, Dimi and David headed to Playa Scuba for their last day of OP certification. Got to the dive shop - perfect service, great new gear - I begged Angelos to go with them to Cozumel tomorrow! Met the other people on our dives - 2 Israeli guys who had brought most of their gear, intimidating but they were really nice and told me not to worry ...

Originally in Cancun people had told us is was just a little version of Cancun but had been told later by a diver in Tulum that it was worth heading back up for the shipwrecks and reefs, so we had. We had been greeted by a super hostel and like minded people who we could share advice with and went to Walmart for dinner- cerrazzy place: tyres next to a paint station, next ...

Day 85 - Swimming with whale sharks

A travel blog entry by jayandbob

This is a top pick!

... its tail to it being gone. I put my head above the surface and took my mask off, the guide was just over from me calling me over, Bobbie was close as well, I was very out of breath from swimming so hard, because I was taking pics I could only use my legs, no arms to help so my legs were exhausted. As the boat came over to pick us up the guide yelled "Manta"! As a giant Manta Ray swam past a few meters away, we put on our masks and watched it glide by under the water. ...
