... Then to our hotel in Pelanque. Big, flash but not really maintained.
All the crew met at the pool for a swim, drinks and nibbles.
very pleasant evening.
Early start to visit the Mayan site of Palenque. Again amazing. Such huge complexes built by these so called primitive people.

... taking pictures. The kind pakale lived there, and the temple of inscriptions was where the red queen (his mother) was buried. It was cool because they were the first in meso america to use sarcophaguses! We then dilly-dallied for ages, not keen on that part. Then went back to the hotel to prepare quickly for the waterfall! We went to the supermarket to get picnic supplies and then drove half an hour to the waterfall and had lunch. BBQ chicken rolls ...

... without a lifejacket. The river was pleasant enough and we got to see a number of 'Mexican' themed displays on the route as well as the natural (and not natural) rock formations.

By this point we were already at noon, as part of the ticket price we had an included buffet lunch and fearing a mass landslide of American tourists we took an early lunch and besides this gave us the best chance at fresh food across the board! Now, usually I am very good at ...

... walk to try find the fairground which is hosting Christmas Eve festivities. It's a long walk and it's down dark streets with not many people around. We get there and despite the walk, it's closed. Definitely thought it would have continued later but that's fine. We pig out on the way home with chocolate and a jelly-yoghurt thing to make the time go quicker. Good times. We get home and sit around trying to plan Christmas Day and how we should attack Cozumel. breakfast - banana crepes with caramel sauce!! and much more
pool for a few hours - got a little burned again - today was stifling hot!
walked along the beach to the point - noticed houses for rent right on the beach. would be fun to rent one with friends =)
pool again - had quesadilla's - chicken with gauc
back to room to cool off
showered and curled my hair for our special dinner tonight
Chef's dinner and wine tasting, tequila shot eww
dinner was amazing
