To get to Palenque we took 2, actually 3, combis. Actually 3 because some local campesinos had set up a road block to make money, so we all had to get off the bus and change and we thought we were going to get shot but it was actually fine.

We were staying in a hippy paradise in the jungle named El Panchan. We chose a private cabin in Jungle Paradise because it had a strict no drumming policy. It also had 3 new ...

... R gave us blindfolds to wear and next thing we knew we were blind. I froze and wondered what the hell to do. With the soundtrack of R's screams in my ears, adrenaline and fear in my veins, training kicked in and we got out the cave with touch contact. The Mayan ruins are beautiful and gave us a taste of how it would be like at Tikal in Guatemala. It's just so amazing how ...

... better than your mom. Restaurant Yucatan offers buffet three times a day, serving breakfast from 7.00 until 11.00, lunch from 12.00 until 15.00 and dinner from 18.00 until 22.00. If you donīt feel like eating in the same restaurant three times per day, you have plenty of other options. Either you can visit one of the specialized restaurants opened from 18.00 until 22.00: Aroma (international), Tao (Asian), Bruschetta (Italian) or Rodeo Grill (Tex-Mex), or you can ...

China is getting real

... s an old temple which has been converted into a tea house - how cool is that!

I know that my mom will never hike the trail, but there are hostels at the foot of the mountain and sights to explore in the nearby city of Xi'an. My plan is that we'll take the night train from Beijing to Xi'an - around 13 hours - spend a day or two in Xi'an, then spend a day in the mountain area (where I will see how far I dare to hike), and finally on the train ride back ...
