Baska to Krk Town

A travel blog entry by jephcottjourney on Jul 07, 2015

On our last full day we decided to drive the full length of the island, which only took 40 minutes and see the town of Baska. The town is famous for a stone tablet found with some of the areas oldest known language. The area is also famous for FKK, which is a acronym used to describe their nudist beaches. This trend was actually started by Queen Elizabeth II uncle, King Edward VIII, who loved to bath in the ...

The drive from Plitvice was interesting and very beautiful. We drove through the city of Otocac where a lot of the fighting occurred in the 90's. The town still has a lot of visible signs of sniper holes in the buildings and some shelling damage. Em received a first hand lesson on some of the effects of war on a location. We rented an amazing 2 story apartment right in a small harbor in the town of Klimno. The island is famous for its caves and a beach with healing ...

... booth and in bits of English we found out that we would need to take a boat and then a small train and then walk for 2-3 hours to see some lakes. There were other walks for 5-6 hours but we were pressed for time so we decided to do the 2-3 hour one. Knowing no more than this we changed into walking shoes, grabbed some lunch and some bottles of water and headed off. The forest was ...

... coliseum off my list because this was 100x better in every way. Next, we were on to Rovinj. Here are some of the highlights from the coast: • Walked from our Airbnb down to the Adriatic. We highly anticipated jumping in the water and it was dreamy but- Ouch! There was no sand, just golfball sized rocks! • For dinner we tried local sea bass and it was fresh and fantastic! • We walked around old town, Grisa street, and did a bit of ...
