... corners was very exciting. I stopped at the top of the pass, from where I could see the north Adriatic sea and the city of Rijeka and took some photos.

I rode down near the sea coast and then headed back north to Slovenia and Ljubljana.

Next Destination: Pfaffenhofen, Tyrol, Austria, reached by driving through South Tirol Italy and the Dolomites mountains

... br> Ray has cousins in Opatija, so both he and Jo have been and intend to do more family outings!
Pete and I have used this opportunity to continue relaxing, though having said that we have done our fair share of walking, as our hotels are a good 1/2hrs walk apart up hill and down dale and along the promenade.

We were up early and left the apartment by 7.30am, the drive to Pag Island only took 1.5hrs which was a lot quicker than Jo initially thought. Pag town was situated on both sides of two islands connected by a causeway. The drive towards Kolan was up the mountain and there were excellent views to the coast and ocean below. The photos unfortunately don't show off the landscape to its full potential.

... from the gentleman woodcarver we had seen before. We then all met at the shuttle to return to our bus. We then met a woman and her truffle hunting dog Eriki, a Labrador mix, along the side of the road at a rest area with a picnic bench. They start training the dogs early by burying dog treats soaked in olive oil and truffles. A good trained dog can stay focused for 2-2 1/2 hours. A truffle hunter must be licensed. They are allowed to hunt on government owned land. ...
