Finding the perfect campsite
We arrived at the Portage Store at 10.30 this morning to pick up our equipment for our backcountry trip. Not having rented anything but canoes before, we did not really know what to expect and were pleasantly surprised by the rental contents and the quality explanation that went with it.

... hikes we went toward the west gate about 20 miles down the road with the dogs. Our first stop was Whiskey Rapids. Most of the trail was just a hike through the woods. Lunchsurfing and Couchsurfing
Karl's car broke down about a week before we were going to go on the trip to Parry Sound to see Shylo's new cottage. It's a good thing, because the whole underneath was rusted completely out, and who knows, maybe we would have fallen right out of the bottom!
Since Karl wasn't going to ride on the back of my moto, I went ahead of him a couple of days early, because I am an underemployed bum.

So we drove like drive like crazy to get to the meeting point for the horses.....we were late, but the rains held.....we dropped our stuff in the "hut" of the Eco Lodge...they would later come and pick it up in their ATV....so you either had to WALK into the lodge (a mile or so) or ride in on horses....we chose horses!!!

First weekend getaway of 2011
After having electrical issues with the boat we finally got going friday night at around 9pm. We arrived safe.
We had great weather all weekend. And I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.
We did lots of fishing, and went for a run/bike ride up the mountain. Had a campfire, and hung out.
Want to thank our great hosts at Mountainview Cottages for the great deal, establishement and hospitality. Everything was great.
