... and amongst themselves.

We discuss the economics of the hostel. Roughly, she pulls in $1,000/mo in revenue. $600/mo pays her rental costs. She has another $100/mo in utilities. It is enough to pay her bills and in Romania, she is doing pretty well. The extra $ comes in from tours and she freelances as a limo driver for one of the big hotels. She had a 3 AM airport pickup later this evening. She works really hard.

Bicaz Gorge, Red Lake, and Onions

... the Bicaz River, but there are a lot of myths surrounding the lake and the weird trees. We had a nice lunch at a outdoor restaurant. We wimped out because of the cold weather and rain and ate upstairs in a pleasant room - with carved wood, naturally. I think the onion pictures come here in this part of the drive although I'm confused where we actually saw these wonderful displays.

Piatra Neamt and drive

Piatra Neamt was a stop along the way to Sighisoara. Adrei gave us a quick tour which incuded walking through the beautiful square or park with a replica of the Little Mermaid, a gift from Queen Margrethe of Denmark, a statue of Stefan cel Mare, and colorful flower gardens. We walked up to St. John's Church with the bell tower. Andrei pointed out the niches outlined in colored ceramic bricks. The pattern continues in the Ethnographic Museum across the way.

Last Days in Piatra Neamt

... me - Of course!). On the way back home we stopped to have dinner at a restaurant. This was because I ate all the food one meal too early and no reserves were kept in the fridge as nobody will be home for weeks. :- ) The rest of the evening we spent getting ready for the trip. We left for Constanta at about 4:30am, now it's about 10am and we are still in the car. To help the time pass quicker I am writing the blog. :-) We will soon post pictures from the Black Sea.

Northern Romania

Hi friends! Yesterday and today we've been touring the Northern Parts of Romania. In one of the photos you will see a map showing how close we were to Ukraine border. We were passing through many mountains forming tke Carpathians Mountain Ranges. The first stop was in Vatra Dornei where Roxy's dads family comes from. The family gathered at grandma's place where we ate and talked. After a while we went ...

Targu Neamt Area Sight Seeing

... apparently they were hiding) as they are associated with Romania. In the photos you can see some of the nature we went through. It's pretty nice. To top the day off we all came to Roxy's parents house and had dinner together and finally we will have a descent sleep tonight. The plan is to go to a place called Vatra Dornei tomorrow where most of my father-in-law's family lives. So until then good bye.

The Wedding

... from the groom and then he needs to pay to get her back. They tried this but it didn't work that well - he got her back pretty quickly. We finished about midnight and for the second night in a row I went to sleep in the early hours in the morning. I feel pretty waisted at the moment. Tomorrow we are off to do some sight seeing, the photos will follow. Until then good bye.

Roxy's home town

Yesterday was our first day in Piatra Neamt which is Roxy's home town. We caught up with Roxy's auntie and her family, her grandparents from mums side and we bumped into some of her other friends. After lunch on Friday with Roxy's family we went to get ourselves a haircut. I really needed a haircut and Roxy had one just because it is cheaper here. But that's not all... Roxy also did her medicure and pedicure. My haircut was finished in 15 minuted and ...

Wake me up so I can go-go

... it's because I both love people and hate people (in theory maybe) at the same time, so the idea of being stuck with and feeling pressure to socialize with random people was not so fun to me. But the people I've met are so cool -- maybe because of the type of people that Suceava attracts, ie, not the crazy stupid just-out-of-college types. And the reason I came to Suceava... Nick had recommended seeing the some painted ...
