We stopped for dinner next to the river and had burgers and pizza (yes not very traditional to be fair..) Then we were shattered and it was definitely time for bed.

Day one went well I feel!

Rick Steves' travel guide for the area says, "it was against the scenic backdrop of the Slovenian Alps that a young man from Oak Park, Illinois, first came to Europe - the continent with which he would forever be identified. After graduating from high school in 1917 and working briefly as a newspaper reporter, young Ernest Hemingway wanted to join the war effort in Europe.
