... her, but she was ‘down’ as her sister, who lived in Las Vegas, had died 2 days ago. We 3 went to lunch at a nearby café that had lousy clam chowder. The wind was VERY brisk and COLD! ... totally crushed from the waist down, and died twice before they could stabilize him. The city was in lock-down from the bombing and they had to get special permission to airlift him to Mass General. Lots of health problems but to put it short, he had 2 hip replacements, 2 knee replacements, femur bone sticking out of skin, 7 operations and months of hospital and rehab. He is in wheelchair now and his usual happy self. Phil had visited him in rehab in August. ...
