Plane delayed until 13.30 so our plans for walking to Navarette were in jeopardy early on. Arrived in Santander 4pm Drama collecting car over credit cards and drivers licences but sorted in the end. Eugene drove. Very fraught for the first hour or so but eventually all calmed down! Arrived Logrono 7.30 eventually found where to leave car (after a few U turns and some shouting). Headed off on ...

... I see what James means this place is seriously out there ...! In fact so remote that I would need directions to their cabin which was on the edge of a national park. Stopped at the local Auberge (only one in town) and Bruno who JP knew called James for me as my phone had no signal. Celebrated ...had Wi-Fi emailed Liz & parents arrived OK. James arrived and gave me a huge hug in the car park. I followed JP from the village a further 2.5 km up a mountain ... Parked up ...

Not a map, not a camping book...a surf book that tells us where all the breaks are in Europe. Pretty excited with our purchase we spent most of that night reading up on where to go and when to go. We spent the following day surfing again and decided to head in to Santander for a ...

... on the way through. We arrived in Liencres on a busy Saturday due to a surf competition and the surf was the best we have seen in days. We stayed for 2 days in the car park, again with the rest of the van clan and with plenty of surf spots to choose from both Dean and I got in a few surfs each, Dean more so than me. We watched the surf competition, marvelled at European parking, went for bike rides and enjoyed the ...

... for long as a home and was abandoned as late as the 70's. This was my second visit here and I loved it just as much this time. Comillas is a definite recommendation as a very attractive place to visit.

Also nearby Santillana del Mar are the famous caves of Altamira where in 1875 Palaeothic paintings of animals were discovered. The paintings are estimated to be about 16,000 years old and include herds of bison, deer, and horses, mostly in ...
