... out the walk was a mere training exercise for what was to come the following day as we staggered seven kilometres up a mountain to see the Acropolis sounding even worse than the battered Renault 12s that asthmatically spluttered past us. Even the cab drivers at the top applauded us when we arrived and told us how impressive a climb that was.

All I offer is a picture or two from a vantage point that none or few others would take the trouble to go for. Even in good weather. Oh, I'm such a martyr.
I did get so chilled that I figured the only way to warm my bones was to go to a Turkish bath ...

Extreme hospitality wasn't confined to Pansyion owners, but extended to restaurant employees as well. We had excellent food in Bergama. Places were crowded with Ramadan fast breakers all waiting for 7:20 to roll around. We were still welcomed by the staff who were quite harried trying to satiate all these hungry Muslims. Our first night's waiter was so ...

All in all we would recommend that those of you who haven't visited it should get yourselves to Turkey soon. Back to Greece. On Wednesday we started to deal with the bureaucratic process of leaving Turkey only to discover from the harbour master that it was a public holiday. Sure I could dribble on here for ages about this and that and all the rest, but probably the best thing for you to do, is if you get the chance to visit Turkey, take the time to shoot down to Cannakle or Ecbate and check it out for yourself.. After the tour, a very quick beer (because apparently it was Beer O'clock ...
