Another exciting event was a 1.2 mile long train pass us on the adjacent rail-road (no - really, I love trains and was sad enough to use the odometer to measure it, sorry Erin!)

... We didn't stay at the lodge this year, instead choosing to take Tumbleweed and stay at the fairgrounds in Santa Rosa. For those of you who RV, it is a decent place to stay for a reasonable price. Gravel sites, fairly level and quiet...unless it's fair time I suppose. :)

We headed back to Sacramento on the 5th for a couple more commitments and left for Oregon on June 16th. We are looking forward to cooler weather and seeing some new things.

Jen and Bill stayed in the same B & B and we all had breakfast together the next morning in the sun on a terrace with a view of the Bay. I'm here on my own this trip as Jim is at home working, but we both love coming back here, for the great memories, the beauty of the surroundings and to spend time with good friends.

Our impressions of San Rafael to date are very friendly people, very trusting and appear very relaxed.....not at all like the Americans I imagined. Do hope this works as appear to have a few that would not syncronise. Love Norm Di ...

      ... the right.

Tuesday, Dan was working, so we made our way down to the SF fire station for a tour of the station and then for a ride on the fire engine. Dan dropped us off at the entrance to China town in the big fire engine that needs a driver at the back of it as well. That was brilliant. The kids got to climb all over the truck before we headed off. We then strolled around China town - ...
