        ... as I crossed the bridge there was a beggar guy trying to get the locks off the railings that people have taken to putting on bridges to signify their love. At first I though I should beat him about the head with my iPad but instead I stopped and took the lock off of my rucksack and gave him it. I never got robbed so I guess my good turn was repaid and it made me feel good anyway. various ...

        It was dull and grey, typical England but at least it was dry.

        Tanked up in Portsmouth and set off up the M27.

        Just before the A34 it started to rain and the traffic was horrendous. The M40 was at a standstill.

        ... panic sent in but I think the black security guard was blind in one eye, and both nostrils,so to speak.

        Onto the boat, not a bad cabin, had a standard self serve Brittany ferries **** fish and chips, Will had spag bol. (Not worth taking a picture of).

        Few beers and bed and a healthy dollop of 'Two and a half men'.
