... as I crossed the bridge there was a beggar guy trying to get the locks off the railings that people have taken to putting on bridges to signify their love. At first I though I should beat him about the head with my iPad but instead I stopped and took the lock off of my rucksack and gave him it. I never got robbed so I guess my good turn was repaid and it made me feel good anyway.

It was dull and grey, typical England but at least it was dry.
Tanked up in Portsmouth and set off up the M27.
Just before the A34 it started to rain and the traffic was horrendous. The M40 was at a standstill.
