    ... of the best we had ever seen. The backdrop of the tree-lined Presidential Mountain Range, with gorges and ravines thousands of feet deep gave spectacular scenery to the ride. We passed the treeline up to the rocky outcrop and then into the clouds. At the top we stood on the summit for a photo. The clouds didn't dissipate while we were at the top, so we didn't have the same kind of views we had coming up. Besides, Sherrie's eyes were watering, hence the quote ...

    ... br> THIS ferry crossing only takes vehicles under 11'3", we are 13.6"....Fudge! (or any other expletive you wish to throw in there)
    She gave us directions to the next crossing (farther north) but there is no place to turn this beast around. We will have to wait until the line of cars is safely on board this ferry and then make a U turn around the her booth. Yay! (Mike is thrilled and using other expletives)

    From Waterbury we traveled a short distance to Stowe, VT. It is a really beautiful town loaded with well kept inns and B & B's as well as ski resorts. There was an art fest just setting up in town and later today a balloon launch would take place. The art fest was a fleeting thought for me as we drove by and I knew we would be long gone before the hot air balloons launched.
