... the fireworks we normally see on the TV at home. Earlier in the night there was even a religious message written by a plane in the sky saying 'are you going to heaven?'. Strange.

It was a lovely way to end a perfect year surrounded by friends both new and old.

We got to bed that night at about 4am so NY day was mainly spent lying on Coogee beach recovering.

The 2nd Jan was our last day in Sydney so we had a lot to see and ...

... see the seals so close up but boy do they stink. One huge elephant seal just kept on letting rip with the hugest ***** imaginable.

As we left Kaikoura for our next destination we drove along the most incredible coastline EVER!!, with yes you guessed it more seals but the most amazing two tone blue sea and glorious sandy beaches. Quite beautiful and this whole experience of Kaikoura was wonderful and leads us to bestow Kaikoura with 8 ½ / 10. ...

... only come to the surface for about 5 minutes before diving down again for over an hour! So using a variety of techniques such as radar's we had to be quick to find them. After an hour of nothing we got the signal of one in the area and jetted off in the direction! We got there in time to see a sperm whale float for a bit before descending! Die supergute 70+-Sonnencreme von Neutrogena, die es hier gibt (aber natürlich nicht in Deutschland, haha), haben wir heute auch sinnlos verschwendet...

Nach diesem Reinfall geht es zurück ins Hotel zum Trocknen und Duschen, anschließend essen wir in "Hislop's Café" eine Seafoodplatte für zwei, die ganz lecker ist. Jetzt gibt es heiße Schokolade und zur Feier des Nikolausi einen Whisky-Chocolate-Cake aus der Mikrowelle.
