Wonderful place. Great location, very friendly, and their afternoon teas for residents (tea, cakes, sherry) is such a lovely touch.

So we are on our way.... sort of. Bit of a mishap with the coach to Heathrow where the brakes stuck on as we approached Reading. After some faffing around another coach turned up, but only had space for 6 additional passengers. There was some jostling to get on that one but, having plenty of time before our flight, we left others to it. Then …

Wonderful day seeing the sight of San Francisco. We woke up early, or rather had trouble sleeping after about 3:00 in the morning due to travelling for about 11 hours and change in time. Still we both felt OK and decided to just set off straight after breakfast.

We started at Union Square, which is the heart of modern day San Francisco. …

... walking through San Fran, the people are lovely but the homeless are insane. They say the weirdest ****, down by the bay there was one man chasing a woman yelling ' I told you, I'd knock your ************** head off'. You need to do it in an African American accent to get the full effect, bloody hilarious. We had quite the giggle, from a safe distance :) We spent ages hunting for Japanese for lunch. Finally found an underground restaurant, and it was worth it. The food was ...

      ... of a woman's voice I named 'Natasha'.

One time we were trying to get Google Maps to keep working, the last thing we heard Natasha say before the GPS crashed was 'stay on the dam road!' We had a nice giggle over that!

San Francisco was still very busy on a Saturday. We decided to take the Golden Gate Bridge on our way out of town because there is no toll when you're leaving the city. (Just like NYC). Fortunately, the ...

Wednesday, Feb 11:  We were all packed up and ready to leave. Here's a photo of Louie and Rosie in the van with ONLY dog-related items - can you see how much stuff is in there already?  Amazing!  There is NOTHING of ours even in there yet! We were all ready to depart at 8:34am when did our customary reality check: Do you have the passports? Do you have your sunglasses? your cell phone? ...
