Wonderful place. Great location, very friendly, and their afternoon teas for residents (tea, cakes, sherry) is such a lovely touch.

So we are on our way.... sort of. Bit of a mishap with the coach to Heathrow where the brakes stuck on as we approached Reading. After some faffing around another coach turned up, but only had space for 6 additional passengers. There was some jostling to get on that one but, having plenty of time before our flight, we left others to it. Then …

Wonderful day seeing the sight of San Francisco. We woke up early, or rather had trouble sleeping after about 3:00 in the morning due to travelling for about 11 hours and change in time. Still we both felt OK and decided to just set off straight after breakfast.

We started at Union Square, which is the heart of modern day San Francisco. …

We awoke the morning of the third day as the train was approaching Reno, Nevada. I was really looking forward to these last few hours of our journey because I had spent many summer vacations as ...

... down, for.....well you know what for. I arrived back early the next day after having missioned across town. This time I was armed with a small back pack and my craft bib shorts. The now tender sitting bones of my derrière were yelping as I took the first few peddles down the road. 'Come on Kim, it will get better as soon as they go numb, you can do this', yes, I enjoying coaching myself in the practice of masochism. I had heard about the red wood ...

... a US flag out the front. Memories of living here 5 years ago all came rushing back, and it felt good. My first weekend was packed with experiences. On Saturday Ben and I made a trip to the city which included a visit to the stunning Golden Gate Park with a classic San Francisco gourmet sandwich in hand. We then spent half a day in the California Academy of Science which includes a natural rainforest with birds, butterflies and a ...
