Wonderful place. Great location, very friendly, and their afternoon teas for residents (tea, cakes, sherry) is such a lovely touch.

So we are on our way.... sort of. Bit of a mishap with the coach to Heathrow where the brakes stuck on as we approached Reading. There was some jostling to get on that one but, having plenty of time before our flight, we left others to it. Then …

Wonderful day seeing the sight of San Francisco. We woke up early, or rather had trouble sleeping after about 3:00 in the morning due to travelling for about 11 hours and change in time. Still we both felt OK and decided to just set off straight after breakfast.

We started at Union Square, which is the heart of modern day San Francisco. …

    ... time to now.

At the end we found a photographic art exhibition containing enormous photos with data and short, pithy interview notes focused on the growing elderly prison population in the States. It was housed in a huge, rather decrepit (intentionally I am sure) old workshop. It was fascinating, imposing and heart-wrenching.

Back on the mainland we walked back via Chinatown. I am on the look out for ...

... 8217;s to shower and change before going out to get a taste of San Fran nightlife. I think we forgot just how far away Belvedere is from the actual downtown San Fran because we planned to just take an Uber but the estimated prices were approaching $100. Luckily for us, Buhl volunteered to DD and hope was restored. What was interesting was that this was our first time going out actually on a weekend night in a major city. We were impressed ...
