... arcades and traditional Thai shops, yet we found the main attraction seemed to be local markets served up decaying fish. We quickly took refuge an hour away in Pattong, in the huge shopping centre, feasting on ethical cuisine (i.e. McDonalds).

Nightlife was also concentrated in Pattong, in particular, the infamous Bangla Road. It's a road that wouldn't look out of place in Magaluf, with the countless bars and clubs lining the roadsides illuminated by flashing neon ...
