Nice hotel with Thai and international staff that speaks English exceptionally well. They were incredibly helpful in giving advice on what to see in the city and they helped us book bustickets when we wanted to leave Bangkok. Very trustworthy! I can definitely recommend them!

I think coming from such a nice place at such a low price in Siem Reap may have made this place seem extra unsatisfying to me. We booked online the 280 baht a person, backpackers room with bunk beds and a fan and shared bathroom but they were full so they up-grated us to the 450 baht simple room for the same price. The only difference is a private bath and one big bed. The room is so small, the shower head is super high up and sprays all over the bathroom as well as leaks onto the floor. The fan sounds like it's about to explode, the blanket on the bed is super thick for it being around 90 degrees in here so I slept on top of it and got a bunch of bug bites. They advertise that you can get internet in every room, not in ours at least. Seemed you could only get it on the main and 4th floor.
The common area is nice, and they have nice wood tables and chairs outside under a covered porch. But the food is pricey considering what you could get somewhere else. They charge 3 times the price for beer as 7-11 which there are 3 within a 4 block radius. Oh, it's also in the financial district, which we didn't realize until we went to go out at 6pm and everything was closed and the streets were dead.
When leaving they tried to charge us for items we did not take from the mini bar, the reception was very rude. Although the guest services people were very kind and helpful.

Is there an honest taxi driver in Bangkok?
The alarm started beeping at 7am and I struggled to open my eyes as I hadn't had the best sleep. I eventually got up and jumped straight into the cold shower which woke me up a fair bit. I packed the rest of my backpack whilst Andrew got a shower and then we were both ready for our taxi to Thongsala pier. We saw the owner stood on the driveway so …
Shopping Spree
Andrew woke up at 6:45am and didn't manage to go back to sleep whereas I was flat out until he woke me up at 9am. We both felt really tired probably a result of the long journey the previous day. Anyway, I had a cool shower and got ready and although Andrew had already claimed that he didn't need a shower he made his way to the shower after me. I …

Hello everyone!
I have been in Bangkok for 2 days now and am amazed by the cultural difference. The atmosphere is amazing!!! Really busy and colourful. We attended the Silom cookery school this morning and learnt how to make traditional home cooking dishes. We were taken to a local market to buy the produce and then cooked 6 dishes! …
Last day in South East Asia
The start of the overnight train journey was quite nice actually, the windows were left wide open and the countryside was beautiful to whatch with the wind in my face especially when the sun was setting over the mountains. I did manage to sleep a bit, Shereen didn't have as much luck though. We arrived at our hostel by 7:00am, had breakfast, …

Sawatdee from Bangkok!
I'm writing this blog entry from an Internet cafe on the infamous Koh San Road. Just to illustrate how different Thailand is - we're paying the equivalent of around 25p an hour for Internet here, as opposed to 4 POUNDS an hour in South Africa.
But before I continue to wax lyrical about the amazing value for …
