I love Bangkok, Thailand. This is my second time to visit Thailand.
Yes, I do enjoy chaos. Bangkok has plenty of it, eveything is fast and spiratic, even more then NYC. The tourists are all hyper, the locals are friendly, and the street food might make you delirious. Eating street food in chinatown for lunch was pretty good, granted I stayed clear of the meats and didn't eat my chicken foot soup; so, you can say I've cheated the real streat food experiance so far.
The people I've met traveling are interesting. The paralized guy I sat next to on the pla...
Well, ok, TWO nights in Bangkok, but that didn't make such a good title :) But never mind that, I'VE MADE IT! From Bexhill to Bangkok, by any means, overland - it was easy really, I don't know what all the fuss was about.... :)
Bangkok is quite a city, I can tell you. Arrived here on Wednesday evening just as the sun was setting, and I had an amazing view of the city from the elevated highways. In fact, there was this futuristic, almost Bladerunner-esque feel about it, what with the sk...
We left Koh Tao (reluctantly) on 26th Feburary on the express boat to Chumpon, which was very similar to our fast cat, which was only an hour and a half and once we arrived at Chumpon pier we got onto our coach to Bangkok for our 7 and half hour journey to Bangkok which wasn't too bad as we managed to fill the time with 3 films! We arrived around 9pm, in the main centre of Bangkok near Koh San Road (where all hostels are) so we searched for New Joes guesthouse where we luckily got the last roo...
Bangkok, Thailand lauranmattSpent 4 hot days in Bangkok. It was the first port of call on our travels. It's a bit of a shock when you get there but we knew what to expect so it wasn't so bad. We stayed in the New Joe Guest House just behind the Khao San road. The Khao San is the main backpacker tourist area. We arrived at our accomodation at about 5 in the afternoon so once we got checked in and relaxed after the flight we went out to get ourselves acquainted with the city. The smells were the worst for me as they made ...
Bangkok, Bangkok, Thailand mariethereseWell guys, I finally made it to Bangkok! Pam met me at the airport, after not being able to find each other haha that was a funny start to the trip! We took a bus to Khao San Road where we are staying in a place called New Joe Guesthouse and it's SO HOT here as well!! the room we're staying in has no air conditioning so at first I was like how are we gonna sleep? but it was actually fine! So last night we walked around Khao San rd and i was TOTALLY stunned that i was actually here in Bangkok!...
Bangkok, Thailand michelle05It seems Toronto loves me too much, and did not want to allow me to leave! Everything seemed to go smoothly, until I actually got on the plane at 9:40am. But we did not leave for another 10 hours!! In the end, I spend a total of about 40 hours in transit!! 10 hours at the Toronto airport 16 hour flight to Hong Kong 10 hours in Hong Kong (but that includes a night at the Marriot, so no complaints!) 3 hours to BKK...and finally, I am here!!! Bangkok, Day 1 Everything went smoothly on arrival, a...
Bangkok, Thailand myriam_123"Whatever our differences, we are fellow Americans. And please believe me when I say no association has ever meant more to me than that." -Sen. John McCain, during his concession speech Being 10,000 miles from home, I thought it would be only me and and a few fellow American travelers who would have a vested interest in the election results. But it would not be so. I sat in a small bar off the Khao San Rd in Bangkok with about 100 other people, native Thai's, Europeans, Americans, Australians...
Bangkok, Thailand philosophe
... As I stated before, I was not in a mood to party. I wanted nothing more than to crawl into a hole and hide from the world for the next few weeks, not have a few hundred people come over my house. But come they did. The house filled with the usual throng of 18 year olds while I stayed in my bedroom, in my pj's (sweat shirt and pants), playing solitaire on my computer. I had gotten word about the kid's death somewhere around 10am and now it was well ...
bangkok, Thailand nealinthailand... through Saturday. This situation resembles the last go-around of a coup, so this might happen again within the next 48h. It was pretty much a non-event the last time. The pro-Government groups (aka red shirts) declared that they would take a stand and fight this time. Let's hope cooler heads prevail and things settle down quickly. As I guess in most cases, the news coverage makes it sound a lot ...
Bangkok, Thailand rupertkaufmann... we walked into the government buildings area where a lot of demonstrations have been taking place recently, there was not much going on there, but the place was still occupied by protesters. The protesters weren't really bothered about us, some of them seemed pleased to see us and were friendly, we walked around for a bit and then left. During the time we visited, big preparations were being made in Bangkok (especially in the Sanam Luang park which we visited ...
