Well before heading here, back before we had even booked dates when I was telling my friends that I was headed to Bangkok, Gav told me "If there is one thing that you need to promise me that you do there, it's hire a guide and see the city". So that promise in mind, When we landed, we got talking to a lady at the airport and hired a guide. I think it cost us all of $20 each to have someone drive us around all day and show us the sights. ... in Bangkok it was dry. The tour, specifically, was to visit two major sites, the Golden Buddha temple and the Grand Palace. The Golden Buddha temple contained, not surprisingly, a statue of Buddha made entirely out of gold. It is 15 feet high. The temple itself was beautiful, mainly white and gold. We climbed the steps to the top level and then took off our shoes to view the Golden Buddha itself, which was wonderful. What was strange was that there were people praying to the Buddha ...
