Today we had a trip across the border into Cook County, Minneapolis and visited the pretty Lake side resort of Grand Marais. It's about 80 miles south along route 61 and took us about an hour and a half. I had to buy a 30 day visa at the border which cost $6.

Cook County is basically a 3,340 square mile national park. It's the place you ...

The hotel we stayed at left much to be desired, Conrad reckons it was probably more a rent by the hour place........ I found that is you had a family of over four people finding a single room was impossible and as soon as two rooms were booked the price was way out of our budget so we had little choice. The rest of us had a beautiful chicken dinner with lots of fixings. It was a rare treat to have meals cooked for me so i relished it. The fire was lit in the open fire in the lounge which added to the atmosphere. Before long it was past bedtime for all, all in all a very special day with close family and my sisters new one.

... wilderness area full of campsites and water trails in which canoeists travel for days and even weeks across. We met some a family if 3 generations just returning from a 4 day trip and another group of young men returning from a 10 day, 75 mile trip. I visited with a couple who work for local outfitters and, on their day off, were headed out to an island to pick blueberries.

We launched our kayaks at Seagull lake and headed ...

... point and glanced over to realize that I needed a picture of that, so I turned around and went back to get it. I pulled in behind a GS that I had seen at the rally and took a couple of pictures, then asked the couple if they would take one of me with my bike and the lake. They said sure, and did so, which generated some conversation about bikes and Canadian gas stations. This led to the rider noticing that one of my trailer tires was very low. I concurred and got to work ...
