... of the other (with the owner sitting atop the first camel), and Nassir was explaining certain camel attributes to us, the owner indicated to Nassir that the back camel was thirsty – it was eyeing the water bottle that Nassir was holding. Nassir, smiling, then told us that camels were very smart. He unscrewed the cap of his water bottle, and held it high up in the air. The back camel swung his head all the way around to Nassir, grabbed the water bottle in its ...
Petra, Jordan annalisamurray...
Petra, Jordan netsrotjWe woke up at 4:30am on sunday morning to make our way to Petra. Got picked up at 5am, made our way to the ferry in Taba, Egypt and took a quick ferry ride over to Jordan, only 35 minutes! We hopped on a nice air conditioned bus and made our way to Petra. A really cool thing about Jordan and driving by the red sea, is that we could sea 4 countries at one time!
Egypt, Israel, jordan, and Saudi Arabia all side by ...

... gate and Gabriela ran to the post office to buy stamps and mail a couple postcards home whereas I went to buy water and Coke to drink for the bus ride back to Egypt. My water had run out after about an hour, so I could have chugged about a litre of Coke easily.
We left Petra around 5:30 p.m. and had another 6.5 hours of travel to get back to our hotel in Dahab. So it was about seven hours of travel to get to Petra, about 3.5 hours on site then 6.5 hours to get back. A ...
... as we are, we let them.
Those that quietly carry on as if you're not there: While waiting in line, I (Becca) had three men cut in front of me. The first one smelled horribly, so I let him go. The second wore thick glasses that magnified his eyes, so I assumed that he couldn't see me. But by the third man, I was so annoyed. Being that my Hebrew is very limited I said to him (in Hebrew), "Excuse me, I'm here!" (Thank you all those years of Hebrew School). Yet ...
Wadi Musa, Jordan brisko... leg so we picked the best of what was in budget and suffered an unimaginative meal. The whole town has really nothing to offer, just scruffy little shops and dirty sidewalks. I'm sure the people are wonderful but we didn't really have a chance to find out. We had one day in Petra - we were told that 1 day was not enough but by the end we felt we had seen a good representation of the ruins and wouldn't have needed more time. Walking through the Siq was certainly magical. Not ...
Wadi Musa, Jordan hamiltonfamilySo, one thing you'll notice when visiting the Bedouin villages are the countless satellite dishes on every house. Sometimes there are three or more on one roof - people do watch a lot TV here. And thanks to digital technologies, they have countless channels: European ones as ZDF, RTL, BBC, the big international news channels and many, many Arab programs. You get the usual **** on the international ...
Umm Sayhoun, Jordan _tz_... we all got back to the car (all of us sunburnt somewhere) and we drove
off to Wadi Rum. Our original plan was to spend the night there, but as
with everything else, we ran out of time. So we just went there and had
dinner, watched the sunset and had a little nap in front of the fire.
It was quite beautiful as you will see when I put the pictures up.
Then we headed back to Aqaba for the night before heading off for Israel the next day.
