The Return

... Air Transat – very cheap but I think this is because they save on fuel by forcing you to bring almost nothing with you. A challenge considering we are approaching winter and that implies heavier clothes! At $15 per kilo that your bags are over the designated weight limit, there is a pretty decent incentive to pare down those necessities! The plane was not complete with seat-back entertainment and the food wasn’t great ...

Day two

Exhaustion has set in. As we sit in our apartment enjoying a Kir we will try to recreate our day for you. A very French breakfast of pastries and coffee au laits started our day and we did not stop for a moment after that. We have now mastered the Metro, a short ride took us to the Champs-Elysees (the rodeo drive of Paris). We walked the entire 2 miles from the Arc de Triomphe to The ...

Les mammies et pensés de la Russie....

... while I'm walking through the metro or walking home, I'll get caught behind one of them...and just the moment right before I'm about to pass one of them, somebody from behind me cuts me off and blocks me from walking ahead! Darn these kids today! A brief reflection on life...Classes are fun, my Stylistics and Semantics class is going to be a handful, but it'll be a good challenge...the prof in that class scares me to death in class, but she's less intimidating ...

Isn't there something else Paris is famous for?

... some gardens adjacent to the museum and happened upon an old-fashioned game of bowling. Check out this vid. [J] We found out later it is actually called Petanque and is a form of Bocce or lawn bowls. Generally, the little yellow ball is thrown out at the start and then everyone tries to land their metal ball closest to it. We didn't get close enough to the game to see how they tell their metal ones ...

Laura & Justin Invade The Palace Of Versailles...

... statues and pristine chandeliers dangling from the ceiling, this was the room that brought visiting V.I.P.'s to their knees. Twas' in this very room that the Treaty of Versailles was signed so many years ago, putting an end to World War I and unfortunately, laying the foundation for World War II. In 1871, after the Prussians hammered the French, Otto von Bismarck declared the establishment of the German empire in the room. Ben ...

Once outside we grabbed an ice-cream that may have been Berthillon, I had cookie flavour (delicious) mum had passion fruit and hubby had raspberry......sooooo creamy! We took the metro to Gare du Nord for the RER B to luxembourg but got too scared to get on it incase it was the wrong train so we decided to go back to our hotel. we washed up and decided to eat locally on the Bld Grenelle at Restaurant Pizzeria (a new place) I ...

Day 20: Leaving Barcelona for Paris

... Not a medical center but a hospital. How strange! I had come to the conclusion while traveling Europe that it wasn't that bad here and I had just been overreacting when I decided to leave - never to return. Then my plane landed in Paris, back in dreaded France, and within 20 minutes I was reminded of everything I dislike about France. So it isn't Europe that is bad ...

Off To Paris

... explained to me that she has gotten progressively weaker as the trip went on and that she wanted to go home. She hasn't been able to keep any food down, wasn't sleeping well, and was just plain miserable. She tried to hide it the best she could not wanting to spoil the fun for everyone else. Mar and I convinced her to just try dinner tonight and see how she feels afterwards. I felt really bad for her as I know how her stomach can get and being away from home probably just made ...
