Years ago, fallow deer were introduced on the island and deer doing what deer do, they multiplied and have wrecked havoc on the vegetation. The island also has black-tail deer, and I assume they were imported but I'm not sure about that. ... It was as beautiful and amazing as we remembered. Just stunning beds of colour and blooms - indescribable really - and the lovely sunken garden which was created from a quarry. So we went to the concert lawn area soon after 7 pm where they have a stage set up and rows of seats, so we didn't have to get stiff sitting on the ground!!!
