Mission: Cactus -- Our last ditch effort
... standing there. At one just exit, we found an abandoned gas station. There was a literal field of cacti behind it, so we had a photoshoot.
We could not believe how enormous these cacti were. They were as tall as trees. You can tell by the scale of us standing next to them, but we estimated some to be 25-30 feet. Amazing. Completely worth the detour, and a surprisingly fulfiling capstone to the end of tour. ...
Spring In Mesa AZ
... till 9 when Phil woke me for something-I think he was talking in his sleep- and I could not get back to sleep-so I got up and he is still sleeping! He was finally up around 11 for breakfast. We didn’t do much during the day, but at 4 we attended a ‘block’ party. Lots of food and a gift exchange and a chance to meet more of the neighbors. Jeder ist selbst dafür verantwortlich, die Tonne raus zu stellen. Dann kommt das Auto mit einem Mann Besatzung. Der muß nicht einmal aussteigen. Greifer nimmt die Tonne, leert über dem Wagen und setzt die Tonne wieder ab. Dauert ca 10 Sekunden.
