City of Quebec

There was little life on the empty streets of the Old Town which became old probably hundreds of years ago and never came back to life again. Sleepy cafes with strangely impotent coffee, bored prostitute on the stairs of the Museum of American Civilization, an ice rink with cheerful French music from municipal loud speakers but few skaters around - hardly a better place to spend another hundred years in lethargic oblivion.

Tour of Old Quebec

... the Citadel, a fortified military base that is still in use today. We venture into the Chateau Frontenac overlooking the harbour and there at the dock is our ship. We brave the cold as long as we dare and decide to end the tour and board our ship early.

En-route to our Canada New England Cruise

We depart mid afternoon to Toronto and catch a delayed connection to Quebec City to arrive very late Thursday evening. Our stay is at a the Hotel Chateau Laurier, a mid range full service hotel adjacent to the Military Armoury. The room is small but the price is just right. There is a St Hubert Chicken in the Hotel - this place also serves breakfast.

Riviere du Loup and Quebec City

... to cross the St Lawrence River for a north shore drive to Quebec City. Our plan was foiled, however, because the ferry was on its non-touristique schedule and did not leave until the early afternoon. The thought of spending the whole morning killing time in Riviere-du-Loup was too awful to contemplate so we had dinner at the acceptable Unio Restaurant (entrees about $24) and went to bed knowing we would see the dreaded south shore passage once again.

Taking the night ferry to Old Quebec.

... to spare. We had gotten lost in campground hell. All signs lead to the far end of the campground and we couldn't find an exit. We went around in circles until we had enough of that and drove the wrong way down a one way street.

It was a beautiful evening to be outside. We wandered around for a while and then had supper, sitting at an outdoor patio. After supper we wandered up to the Chateau Frontenac. We ...

Nobody Told Me About The Hills.

... 8217;t sure exactly where the school was in relation to the bars but knew they couldn’t be far away. Initially Marina and I were joined by her two new dorm-buddies and we set off along the verge of the highway heading for downtown.

After about ten minutes walking and no bar in sight our companions decided not to bother and turned back, but I’m certainly not one to be deterred by a bit of a hike, not when there’s a beer at the end of it. Another ten ...

day 8

... for my birthday! We then went off to lessons where we worked a little more on our grammar presentations and then worked in different groups to assemble and fill-in a cartoon strip that had been emptied of words, cut-up and mixed-up! It was quite interesting, but difficult to do at first. We also got to listen to Renan Luce as we were doing this, who is one of my favourite french singers! In her classes Carys has been doing some tongue twisters, which sound interesting, and ...

When we, like Alice in the Wonderland, we met..

... uniform :p): irony combination of 2 small old man and big friendly giant. hee... the sparkles started off with a dare to eat our nation flower that was used as a garnish for the buffet pallet. He was named Mr incredible due to his enormous built and a slight resembleme to this cartoon character. We taught him how to say 'like ****' in our dialect > '' ga na sai!'' We liked him alot and sticked to him where ever we went like ...
