    ... woman ,began to build their own chiesa, adorned with mosaics and add sparkles to those already there .Theodoro even built a few of her own.
    The Ravenna of today is a small town , but has 8 Unesco world heritage sites of Byzantine mosaics. As we all know how I love glittery things so....it was on the list of " must do's".

    ... area then went to sit in the food cart area. Lucky it was only a short 30 min train ride to Florence. We were happy we made it! We checked into our hotel then went for food! We did a lot of eating in Italy! We walked into the city center, it was hot and packed with tourist standing in line to see things the David statue and the cathedral.     ... a magnificent mosaic feature over and around the alter. The mosaics survived the troubled times including WWII but not all the Greek marble remained in place. A number of churches were built in the area and the monks abandoned the Basilica for some time. In this time, the marble was removed/stolen. Marble from some of the other churches was recovered from their ruins and installed in the church.

    ... in Pesaro (last nights stay) and then hop on the cruise liner to go over to visit more relatives on a small island near Split. They, along with his three brothers run the Spinks Hotel in Geelong. The pub was built by their dad and they are going strong. We now have a place to stay in Geelong!
