... on an icy runway we wont go into details about. Not ideal.
So here we are...at the southernmost city in the world! Its a very cute little town with an interesting recent-ish history but not a whole lot to do (unless you are there to ski - plenty ski resorts and also trekking opportunities, but no trekking in winter, too dangerous...and cold!). That said, we manage to have 2.5 funfilled and memorable days in the freezing cold!
Wondering around ...
... of cheap cafes), this bulldog of an American had been peddling headlong for 60km through torrential downpours to reach the hostel I was staying at. Approaching his 40's (I guessed) and sporting the weather-beaten appearance of comedian Rich Hall, Cycle Craig was simply a joy to hangout with. Brimming with stories about his saddle-bound adventures, he conveyed his journey in bittersweet animation, simultaneously proud of his near 1500km ride down from Santiago ...
Ushuaia, Patagonia, Argentina deaworldwide... over our hard borrowed cash and she kindly threw in the rental of all the down jackets, pants etc we needed and a night in her hotel next door (anyone reading this who may be going, go and see Daniella at Ushuaia Turismo - she´s lovely). We spent the next day....well, just getting SO SO excited, buying some more warm gear and enough camera memory cards and wine to sink the ship we were going to board. Well, can´t run out, can we?????
Ushuaia, Patagonia, Argentina terredeshommes... till 3 :)) - anyway we went there at 12.00 and besides two handful of people the club was empty as foretold - At 2.40 the Club started to fill and at 3.00 (am) it was full till the roof :) ... The next day Nicola and me planned to the national park. The National Park Tierra del Fuego is extremely nice and well kept - you could spend 2 days in there and camp (the area open to public is quite ...
Ushuaia, Patagonia, Argentina stefank... getting mild sway so far, may not here another story till we get home, unless the drake isnt to back toshuaia. The Drake got real bad on the 2nd day, Had it not been for the sick sick meds I would have been sick, were able to make it up for Lucnch and dinner, some werrent so lucky, and were really sick, we didnt see them forr a day or two, till we entered clamer water, Thankfully we made it back to the Beagle channell for our last supper together and everybody made it to dinner.
Ushuaia, Patagonia, Argentina rogersusieq... nation one is, I can honestly state that Ushuaia is one pathetic and desolate place in the middle of nowhere. I remember many years ago seeing on the French TV (while I was living in St. Martin) a beautiful and sexy commercial for a new shower soap gel called Ushuaia. What was particular about it was the use of unusual and rare fragrances collected from the most remote places around the globe, and thus the name of Ushuaia seemed to convey exactly this ...
Ushuaia, Argentina dionea... you can withdraw (only $100). Then we checked what there is to do here, and got a ticket out of town on the first available bus (on Friday morning, nothing sooner). Having gotten all that arranged we felt a little more comfortable and getting back in the swing of things. To celebrate, we went to bed by 9 pm!
Ushuaia, Patagonia, Argentina mrewkowski... minutes or so there. While there I got a couple of good shots of some type of geese which I had never seen before. One of you bird experts will have to tell me what they are when I get the pics posted.
Back at Ushuaia we wandered the town looking, unsuccessfully I am sorry to say, for a Zippo for Brian's collection. Ushuaia which is located at 54 degrees, 48.62" south, 68 degrees, 17.95
west has a sign that ...
