Had a perfect travel day yesterday. Actually got away early, 8:45, and had beautiful cold clear weather all day. It was only once we got close to Portland that we saw any snow at all and there it was only deep in the bush. But shortly after we stopped for the night the snow started. It looks like we got about 3" overnight. Luckily we're heading south! Had great Chinese food last night. Who knew we'd find it in Maine! Here's what morning looked like - winter ...

Note to selves: when returning to Boston, on New Years Eve, and your hotel is on the Times Square of Boston, it is not the best idea to try to drive to the ...

It was cold - about minus 7 - so we were going into many shops just to warm up! When I saw a cheese shop that had samples it was like a dream!! The cheese was all made in Vermont and was delicious. We got talking to the lady about how we'd been hoping to see snow . She suggested if we drive inland about ...

We woke up this morning in our hotel room that housed the shower in a cupboard. Before our tour of the House of 7 Gables in Salem we wandered back to Marblehead to take photos of the cute little coloured houses and the beautiful mansions. Such a great little place. We then ventured back to Salem. Salem You know that feeling when you start a tour, and know from the very first second it's going to be the longest 45 minutes of your life, but there's no escape? ...

... left, both couples loaded up with fresh blueberries, vegetables, and pies.  They did not have the blueberry crumble, but they did have a blueberry pie and a strawberry and rhubarb pie.  The Lynches bought the blueberry and we bought the strawberry and rhubarb.  When we got back, each of us had a slice of both, and we split the remainder between the two coaches. Another great ...
