... the night at Saucy Mary's hostel and pub. This town was absolutely tiny, and absolutely dead! Everyone was gone for the winter, which I couldn't blame them for. It had been freezing, we were either sleeping through or chasing some seriously nasty storms which had caused blackouts all around us, ripped up trees, and closed roads causing some of the trips behind us to be cancelled. We stayed at the pub for dinner and a round of pool before having another early ...

The 'Two Churches Walk' said to allow 45 minutes from these ruins ( Pic 1) and back- but then that probably meant in good conditions. We set off in sunshine past an old, moss covered wall ((Pic 2) and should have read the warning signs better- our jiggers weren't really up to the soggy conditions after all the recent rain. We saw some yellow wild flowers and even a little heather if you looked hard. Moss and lichen covered branches have a beauty as well. Pics 3-6. By ...

We loved every moment and our little Fiat 500 seemed to enjoy the outing as well. Wendy was over the moon to encounter deer- see her Facebook entry. We felt God especially blessed us when we walked into our room to see this view from the window- Pics 20-22. The watery moon confirms the 90% chance of rain the next few ...

... and the Skye Bridge to the island of Skye, in the Inner Hebrides. Drove north, looking at coastal (Loch Alsch) and inland scenery, to Portree, the principal town. After a beautiful sunny day, the sky turned dark and rain set in, on and off, as we drove. Skye not as dramatic as I had imagined; more rolling rounded mountains and cliffs falling to the sea. Found a camp overlooking the sea, 150 metres above the ...

... equipped with repellent and a head net. I was not bothered by them until I stopped walking. The combination of net and repellent seemed to work and I put up the tent without too much bother. Apart from the midges it was pleasant warm evening so I sat and read by the river and watched the sun sink to the horizon over Loch Hourn.
