    Today we went on the train to Ferrara, Italy and Ravenna, Italy. So once we got up we caught the Vaporetto boat to the train station and then caught the train to Ferrara. Once you got to Ferrara we went and found one of the old old castle with a mote around it which was pretty cool.     ... Lots of canals, lots of boats and lots of walking. Surprisingly, you can walk everywhere in this historic district using the many small bridges that cross all the canals. You just can't walk anywhere in a straight line, and you need to deal with the crowds.

    ... piece had to be renamed as the Catholic Church at the time did not appreciate Veronese's depiction of very "human" Apostles at the table - picking their teeth, etc. The painting was renamed The Feast in the House of Levi, which apparently satisfied the Church at the time. Countless other pieces of artwork including sculptures, paintings, murals and triptych were almost overwhelming. It's an impressive museum.

    ... unappealing, but it is delicious! The squid insides are pureed and essentially used as a thickener, but an additional effect is that they add tons of flavor and some saltiness, resulting in a truly amazing dish. There was also one little round red pepper garnishing the pasta that had been stuffed with anchovy and I could easily have eaten about a dozen of those! The gnocchi was divine.
