Hidden Cyprus
35° 00 N, 33º 00 E. that's Cyprus, one of the few places in the world where you could get a tan on the beach and then within an hour go skiing in the mountains . Smaller in land mass than Jamaica but twice as big as Barbados. Its smallish but feels spacious because it has less townsfolk per square km, than Barbabos
So you can always find a secluded spot and there ...
... some of the most beautiful anemone flowers – they were huge with double petals, in fine colours!
Nothing of those nostalgic days reminds me of what I see today, but yet the church is still very beautiful, and the yard which surounds it is very beautifully decorated with flowers. A beautiful bell tower is built in the yard, and everything is so tidy and neat in there. What I can't accept is how this highway leading to ...
THE MAKENZI AREA
After the war with the Turks in 1974, this place here,- a short walking distance from the Larnaca airport, had become a shanty area. A favela in reality, with one restaurant next to the other, most of the owners refugees, coming from the north part of Cyprus who found this place here to create their small little business those days. The majority of them had lost their properties and ...

This mosque is now considered to be the fourth most important religious ...

In Greek it is called "Panagia Angeloktisti –meaning (built by Angels).
It is an 11th Century building with a rare 6th century mosaic considered to be the finest on the island.
(I was driven to this church the ...
CYPRIOT HEAVY ACCENT
(2 FUNNY INCIDENTS)
Most Cypriots speak English, so instantly a visitor is accepted and given a taste of the local culture and way of life. The people's helpful nature means that if your car ever breaks down you will never be stuck at the roadside for more than a few minutes before someone stops to help……ONLY ...
MIXED FEELINGS
MY LIFE IS A WONDERFUL TRIP
Every time I come to this island, I have these mixed feelings. I love walking around Larnaca and spot old buildings, shops, see older people who remind me of those years when I was a teenager. I don't feel more than 18 when in Cyprus believe it or not!
There are times when I lose ...
... number two, so it did the only thing that is possible in these times of need. Up went the high rises right on top of the beach !!! Not far from the beach, is as usual, the old Church converted into a Mosque. There was restoration work taking place, but I went in anyway. As this is the Cypriot side, it is open for use. It was quite small, but nice. And then it happened. Like all Mosques, this one had carpet over the floor, but right in front of the mihrab was a small ...
Larnaca, Cyprus uncle_davros... mixers and builders vans. Glimpses of the old coast road can be seen, but there is little effort to keep as a secondary route. Each time I took it it ran for a short while and abruptly came to an end when the new road crossed it - usually at the foot of a steep embankment carrying the new road right over the old. As luck would have it, the new road ended and from that moment on the landscape changed ...
