... the people look to be more northern Asian and Middle Eastern than what we picture as Indian. The town itself was full of Tibetan refugee shops, organic cafes and adventure/guiding companies; we liked to refer to it as the Banff of India.

We were fortunate enough to be in Leh during the annual Ladakh festival, so were able to attend our first polo match in an amazing setting surrounded by the ancient Leh Temple and 6000m peaks. True ...

... friendly family and it was difficult to say goodbye to such a wonderful little paradise. It is one of the best experiences either of us has had on our travels and we were so glad that we got outside of Leh to see this little slice of heaven. We would stay one more night in Leh before starting a long journey to Srinagar in the heart of beautiful Kashmir.
