It was a sunny Saturday afternoon as Steve and I packed the girls bags for our first train ride down to Fribourg for the St. Nicholas Festival. Every year on the evening of the first Saturday in December, St. Nicholas rides into Friboug on his donkey, escorted by a procession of musicians, singers, and men dressed in black cloaks with "whipping brooms" made of twigs. With recommendations from Manuel.. we went by train to a couple of lakeside destinations.. Lausanne and Montreux. Check out the photos to get an idea of just how beautiful these places are. I have no words.

In Lausanne.. we passed an old church that was ...

Our last few hours in Paris were a disaster.

We slept a little longer than we should have and made a dash for the train station.. a mission in itself since the station we needed to be at was on the other side of town. To get there we needed to take three separate metro trains.. and we needed to get there in about 20 minutes. It took about 40 minutes and we missed our reservation.

The next available seats were not available until later in the day.. some 7 hours ...
