Autoroute A5 / A19 - Sortie Fontainebleau, Pont-sur-Yonne Villeperrot, Burgundy, France, 89140, 33-0-3-86-67-05-93-
... Fontainebleau.
We were supposed to meet back at the bus at 12:30. Guess where I was at 12:30... in the gift shop, picking out some postcards... Our group definitely has issues with being on time. Oh well, I was not the last one back to the bus just so you know!
The second chateau we visited was Vaux-le-Vicompte. This was a private chateau, no kings ever lived at the chateau, but they did stay from time to time. Once ...
Tuesday's are still the best day of the week although the weekends are looking better and better as our trip to London approaches as well as Fall Break!! Of course by this I don't mean that the week is horrible I just don't think its worth writing home about. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday I have French in the morning from 10am till noon followed by a two hour lunch break and then studio from 2pm until 6pm. Some days in studio were do site visits within the city ...
Maincy, Île-de-France, France t.rosile... of the owners were and what they kept down there. It was very damp and cool and the passages were narrow with low ceilings and it was very dark. One of the guys who works for IES who does the excursions decided that I was the one that he would continually come up behind and grab. I guess he was trying to make me scream but I didn't oblige him. I would only go so far as to yell "Holy sshhhhh...." All and all though it was a fantastic day. I think I ...
Provins, Île-de-France, France kellygruganHere are finally the news!! Of course, to make sure that everyone will be confortable with the langage, I will also translate it in french! Here are a few pictures of our first training course in Melun. Between party time & work, these two weeks were really exhausted!! But doing Karting & going to restaurant on the Champs-Elysees was also part of the job. Hehe it was really really herd believe me (this is for my french friends, I told them I ...
Melun, Île-de-France, France ddlangolaisVaux-le-Vicomte, as is indicated on its brochure, is a masterpiece of the XVIIth century. It's probably the glamor and mythical decadence of Louis XIV that attracts so many people to Versailles, but I bet most people don't know that the latter is a result of the Sun King's jealousy over Vaux-le-Vicomte's splendor. Nicolas Fouquet, the brilliant and successful finance secretary to Louis XIV, built the château for his own enjoyment. The famous landscape ...
Melun, Île-de-France, France ilona1229... of many French paintings throughout the centuries. After Barbizon we drove a short while to Vaux le Vicomte which is yet another chateau. It seems in France each chateau has to have some sort of gimick to make it stand out from all the others. At Vaux le Vicomte the gimick was that at sunset they lit candles all over the garden and inside the chateau to imitate the lighting from the 17th century when the castle was built. It was actually a ...
Barbizon, Île-de-France, France k_in_france... so much about each conutry's culture...going back to Europe seems a nightmare now; but since I am now the most positive thinker ever, here is my philosophy "I need to leave this region to be able to come back and enjoy it even more for longer" ... I'll be back :-)
Mitte, et me sealt mitmekümne euroseid šokolaade oleks soovinud osta! Cappuccino vahukoorega läks õigesse kohta see-eest.
Montargis, Centre, France pille... housing the relics and serving as the king and queen's chapel. Again, words do nothing to describe the beauty of this place - and pictures only tell half the story. (http://www.paris.org/Monuments/Sainte. Chapelle/) As we leave, the earlier drizzle begins to form snow! I thought it never snows in Paris?! After a quick stop at the hotel for a protein bar and warmer clothes, we headed out for the Louvre. Ever see National Lampoon's European ...
Paris, France travelinv... a free poster and I bought one of their self-titled CDS. The band's name is "Les p'tites bourettes", they even have a website. I think the address is http://www.lesptitesbourettes.com after watching them for a good while we headed in the direction of the metro, back downtown to take a boat trip through the canals. Learned a little bit of history on Paris. I found out that the Cathedral Notre-Dame took more than 200 yrs to be built ...
