... we now knew what to look for although photographing them proved tricky. AND we saw elephant seals lying out sleepily having a lazy Sunday afternoon nap on their own beautiful beach. This was a totally unexpected bonus. We pressed on to Pismo - a lovely holiday resort (compared to Southend by some in the party...but in a good way) with 8 miles of the finest sand I have seen in a long time - buckets and spades and building fortress america beckons ...
