Very sad to be leaving our gorgeous Malibu neighbours but we will hopefully meet up with them again in San Diego as they don't live that far away.

I got my washing done and des dropped off the hire car then we hit the road up north past Santa Monica plus lots of other very cool beaches along the way.

... town judging by all the beautiful people and expensive shops we saw. We started to look in shops but the price tags were enough to tell us we didn't belong. It was too hot to do much else so we decided to press on to Pismo Beach.

Along the way we also stopped in Santa Maria in the hope we could find a souvenir with Santa Maria on it. Despite the fact that I know you can buy Levin souvenirs in Levin, it was impossible to find a shop selling Santa ...

... doing this ride. Wayne and Barb were neighbors of Julie and I in Mission Viejo for 15 years. Julie and Barb were forever volunteering to lead the girl scouts, be the soccer mom's, drive the kids to the T Street beach in San Clemente, etc...Over the years we have enjoyed a lot of rides together.

Wayne works for Shimano the international leader in cycling components...gears, breaks, wheels, etc....Shimano is a major sponsor of R2R. Wayne ...

... by 5. Good thing Robin got a ride home with a coworker since she gets out at 4:30. The drive home was lovely. (I don't think I've used that word yet to describe the scenery. :) ) I pulled over at least 3 times on the way home. I took a different route home which went along more of the coast. Finally made it home at 6 exhausted. We did subway for dinner and watched Duck Dynasty and then it was off to bed. Who knew Yasser would be a Duck Dynasty ...

... to see that Rv's are allowed to line up along the coast road for $40 per night. Too many to count and we have seen that in many places along the coast. 5 pm and we headed to Pismo beach. Got a room and then we went to Denny's restaurant for tea.. Had been 25 years since last there. Had great memories of using them and was ticketed to go back. Used wifi to phone Jessica cos she has heaps of data and chatted for almost an hr. what a treat
