We left Annecy, France and headed around the top of Lake Geneve , Switzerland. Closed our eyes and put our finger on the map to pick a place to stay the night ...Chexbres. It turned out to be a very small town on the lake , amidst terraces of vines, cobbled streets and alpine chalets smothered with geraniums. Gorgeousville !!! A night there and then we drove across to the border and into Switzerland , heading for Zermatt. Zermatt is the closest town to ...

We awoke in Sunday morning a little slow and sore after a big Saturday of Canyoning and celebrating but we were packed and off by 10am. After 3 great nights in Interlaken it was off to Zermatt to check out the famous Matterhorn. We arrived in the afternoon and took a walk around ...

Zermatt is a hilly place, we had to walk through an ancient village where the houses were built by logs. Had a traditional Swiss lunch of cheese fondue ...

Arrived in Zermatt and after checking into our apartment, headed straight for the hills to soak in views of the Matterhorn before the predicted rain the next day. Absolutely incredible view. Also had a very bizarre experience. There were maybe a dozen other people hiking around this section of the mountain in the late afternoon sun. We headed for a point where we ...

... holy cow it's expensive to eat out here! I think we might even (gasp) cook a couple of meals during this trip! I can hear the shrieks of shock and horror from here!

After dinner we walked through the old town section "Hinterdorf" in Zermatt. Buildings here date from as early as the 15th century, and even though they're made almost entirely from wood they're not just standing, but standing solidly! That's impressive in this day and age, where houses are ...
