ZERMATT TO LONDON

A travel blog entry by nancya on Oct 08, 2014

Alas we are leaving Switzerland, it is a glorious sunny morning so the Matterhorn was very visible and glowing in the early morning light. We are in the train to Visp where we connect with the train to Geneva. As we move away from Zermatt the clouds close in. From Visp 2 1/2 hours to Geneva airport passing through small towns and larger ones like Montreux, Lausanne and ...

Had to see the Medieval bridges and the beautiful old buildings decorated with ornate designs or scenes. Luzern is a beautiful city. We travel from Luzern to Zermatt by train. We have three trains with transfer times of around 5 minutes in between so ...

Pottered about the little town of Pella near to where we are staying. Sat on wooden bench on quayside scoffing a gelato each like oldies do apparently. Delightful. Have now planned next step over the Simplon pass to stay in a small hotel in Chamonix, hoping to see Mont Blanc before the weather closes in. From there working our way back to the channel coast over 4-5 days. All fine and jalopy holding up so far - touch wood. Love to you all again. ...

... made a vow of silence (notices to this effect are all over the place and everyone is asked to respect this, the only exception being for Americans) and perimeter of old houses bordering the waterfront. Anyway the nuns were of course nowhere to be seen but the gift shops were, with some lovely objects for sale but all sorts of religious tatt as well. The chapel was stunning with ...
