    ... bit further outside of town than our cabaņa was. The truck was sunk several feet into mud and nearly on its side. He told us the story of how he walked two kilometers to a friend's house who towed his truck, and here he was, soaking wet, holding his now useless, soggy phone, to say sorry and goodbye. We hugged our good friend Juan Pablo, invited him to come stay at our home in Pittsburgh and advised him to put his phone in a bag of rice for two days.

    ... nationals can prebook internal flights online, we could only do so in person, or ask a friendly local to call on our behalf. We'd checked and Skyline had tickets for the next day and an office in Puerto Montt to book them from. Which is closed at weekends. B**ger.     ... I remember an English couple telling me about it back in arequipa in my first couple of weeks traveling and since then have met many more people who raved about the climb up the snowy volcano and then the sledding down again. Apparently I was only just in time, the guide thought in 2 weeks the snow would have melted and only glacier would remain. So whilst you'd still be able to walk up you'd have to walk down again as well!! Booked on my trip for the next day ...

    Today we lost half a day as Maddie and I didn't emerge from our tent until well after 10.30am. It was such a refreshing feeling and not a common one at all for me at least.     Relaxing day. Walked around Pucon town and went down to the lake - Lago Villarrica. In the afternoon went to visit a Mapuche - Latin America community and they gave us a traditional lunch, all made from ingredients grown in their garden.
