... in the town center. It was truly the best pizza I've ever had! I had such a wonderful time on Friday and Saturday, I got to do very adventurous things and see parts of El Salvador I'd never seen before.
Today we went to the milpa again to continue planting beans. It took a really long time, and we were only finishing just a small part of the field that still needed to be planted after 5 days of working on it already. We left the ...
... as there are nice smallish but frequent waves. I am going to have a lesson tomorrow and see if I can improve on my attempts to surf 3 years ago in Mozambique. The water is warm, the sun is hot, the palm trees, that fringe the beach, still and the beach is black(?!). A weird phenomenon in this part of the world, the Pacific beaches have black sand, so my feet resemble granite, coated in sparkling dark sand. There is a huge smile beaming from my face. And as the sun ...
El Tunco, La Libertad, El Salvador hess... like this store until this year, but it is so saddening to think that people are buying bread on credit.
After everyone has left, Trini usually heads upstairs to sew. She is trying to make purses and shirts to sell to earn money for the Hope House. Thank you so much to First Lutheran and the special Angel who made buying a new sewing machine for Hope House possible! I am seeing more and more the difference micro industry is making, and ...
... warmer than usual. Alma told me that it's never this hot during this time of year here, since this is "winter" in El Salvador. It should rain every day, but it's only rained twice since I've been here! We're all miserable, but thankfully there is air conditioning in my room! And when I turn it on the right way, it works really really well! :)
On Friday night we just hung out, and as I walked from one end of the house to the ...
Hola Everyone!
Today we went back to the kids! we only had a few today but in my opinion it was the best day! We only had a few because they closed school for 2 weeks b.c of the flu so today they had to go both morning and afternoon. They will do the same on Thursday.
We only had 5 kids today but boy were they all amazing. We had Kevin,Eric, Caroleta, Enrique, Raul.
At first we colored ...
... After bussing back into La Libertad Thursday to buy swimming trunks because I forgot mine on a line in Santa Ana, I was planning to pack my things up and head on. Upon walking into the hostel two familiar faces greeted me: the two Slovenians from Juayua, Sasha and Jana! With this I decided to stay in El Tunco. Together with them two really friendly Quebecois (sp?), Mary and Sebastian, came the same day. We spent much of the following few days together. It happened to be Sasha ...
La Libertad, El Salvador jaynichvolodov... more but I said I only wanted the meat and some salsa to save my appetite for the lamb. I made my way back to the lamb place and sat down just in time to enjoy some mariachi music at the next table. I loved it when the guy at the table jumped up and joined in! As I said, a fun atmosphere which I think you can get a taste of from the movie.
Juayua, El Salvador margreet98... so late the driver barely slows enough for exiting passengers to jump out along the way. Hungy as we are from having missed breakfast, we can´t bring ourselves to purchase any of the liquidous vegetable-with-chili baggies vendors keep bringing onto the buses. The view from Cerro Verde of Izalco to the south and the beautiful, brilliantly blue Lago de Coatepeque can´t be beat. A brash Brit named Nikki (in her tenth of twelve months backpacking ...
Parque Nacional Los Volcanes, El Salvador ctkoeppel... look like a bombs hit it but thats true in any city. The market is large mostly undercover and sells the usually pirated dvds. The following day i headed out with an american guy to Suchitoto, a city about 47kms from the capital. When i say city thats what the books call it, i would say a very very small town. We visited a small restaurant where the owner had made sculptures from disused munitions from the civil ...
