... digs have revealed that people have inhabited the area since pre-history. The first to plant vines on its verdant slopes were the Etruscans and then the Samnites. Virgil and Horace both make mention of the wines of Solopaca back in the 1st century B.C. The Romans thought of it as an area worth preserving for its important shepherd trails. To reach Solopaca from Napoli you must first travel along the Strada Statale 7, Via Appia, the road that was first constructed by ...

A travel blog entry by elohim

You see the structure of the lava flows. We meet some mushroom collectors. I collect some Vesuvuis gravel I plan to make art with back home. Heavy stuff - I guess it contains quite some share of iron.

... climbed the Duomo, saw David in all his glory (mmm!), shopped, and dreaded going home every night.

Two days later we head to Tuscany to the city called San Gimignano, a medieval town set up on a hill surrounded by vineyards. We stayed in a family run historic building where they rent out the rooms to people. And it was so nice to have our own room!!! The city was beautiful, like out of a movie! And as you read, we rented a moped the second day there. We named her ...
