... the viewpoint of the township of La Fortuna the volcano looks like a lush mountain, thriving with forests that extend to its crater. The opposite is found on its back side where previous eruptions have scarred the terrain leaving it barren and deserted. The views from the back though, as sunset approached, were pretty special.

5 hrs later I awoke to the first light of day and a whole new set of jungle sounds...a morning serenade of howlers, and daytime birds. I got up and opened the drapes...WOW! the view took my breath away. The windows and our balcony overlooked miles of jungle and the Arenal Volcano. It was stunning.
