... but the train was full and only 1st class seats available which cost us €60 each - ouch! To add insult to injury our seats - 8a and 8b - we're actually in separate coaches, so we couldn't sit together until much later in the journey when the woman next to me got off the train. ... hairpin bends, to an out of the way bar called l'Entra for delicious tapas. We were the only people dining that night, if you exclude the hungry looking cats that were tempted to join us. The tapas dishes were random, with no menu to go from, and kept coming until we gave the word to stop. A really fun way to eat with some tasty surprises and not one disappointment. At the end of the meal the owner lined up several bottles of grappas, etc and let us take our pick - happy ...

... record time! And Ali didn't even get 'bleeped', which we think is a first. Arrived Alicante airport more or less on time after a 45' delay leaving Gatwick and Ian Cronk was there to greet us and take us to Casa Cronk in Benidoleig. Unbelievably hot weather so we had a welcome ice cold Buck's Fizz (with home made fresh squeezed orange juice) and snacks whilst admiring Sue and Ian's lovely Spanish home. Then off ...

... ourselves. A few hours of talking, drinking and eating later I took out the guitar again and sang together with Renato for an hour or so which was appreciated ! Around 5 it was time to pack up and go back home where we watched the Brazil - Chili game which was extremely tense and ended with penalties. ... in amongst the ubiquitous bars and cafes, which gave the place an outdoor shopping mall feel. On the main street they even had a new modern Theatre Complex complete with music school and art gallery. The main street was a wide boulevard with the tallest shade trees, and was made for strolling or sitting at a cafe table to watch the people walk by.
