    Mileage: 10 miles Altitude Gain:1500 ft. Today we awoke at beautiful Susie lake. We both were sick of instant oatmeal so we didn't eat much for breakfast.     ... on from here we climbed the ranges peaking at Sagehen Pass (8139') amongst delightful pines which stayed with us as we descended the western side to Mono Lake, which we had seen in 2012. Stopped at the Mono Mill site which had a good display of this once timber mill and railroad which supplied nearby (well, 30 miles away) Bodie.

    Today we explored the area of South Lake Tahoe from our timeshare at the Lake Tahoe Vacation Resort. We walked as far as Harrah's and the Harvey's Casinos, which are on the state side of Nevada.     ... sunset pictures .... They are the ultimate romantic freebie! I loved all the silhouettes of the tall pine and spruce trees against the full moon when the scent from the trees filled the air.

    And we saw our first bear! From a distance, driving round the wooded residential area at dusk there was a black shape crossing the road downhill, the unmistakeable lope of a black bear! We went on some more bear hunts at dusk for a few days ...
