... taste, gentle on the palette, brilliant amber coloring, lacing on the glass present to the end, so drinkable it's scary! First wifi use since we left...very exciting indeed. Beautiful campsite right on Lake Huron...perhaps 150 feet away. Dogs in love with the smells...Michigan I love ...
After departing Alpena with following John & Rita we followed highway 23 through Cheboygan to the bridge. Connie got a great picture of the magnificent bridge as we crossed it onto the Upper Peninsula (UP), beginning our Yooper experience. Both Lake Michigan and Lake Huron are really only one body of water, sharing the same water level elevation.
Another remote park, small but very nice with spectacular waterfront sites on Lake Michigan so we are looking straight out over the water, Can’t get in our heads that we are on a
lake. “Can’t see the other side, nothing but water”.
We went into Mackinaw City on Lake Huron to check it out and to get a schedule for the Mackinac Islands ferry. We had ok pizza at Nonna’s Pizza Restaurant. Very neat, clean ...
... We opted for lunch alongside the tea room, as the buffet was $40 a pop. Formal wear is proscribed after six, but I'd do it just to get at that dinner menu... The time to stay here is at the end do the season when it goes on the American Plan-with 3 meals included. Several movies have been filmed here, the last being Steeve Reeves and Jane Seymore in Somewhere in Time ...
... Of course I didn't have the warm liner in my jacket. When I went over the bridge I froze, 200 ft in the air and the wind coming off the lake. I was glad to get a motel room and food! Next shop next door had a viewing platform of the bridge on top of the roof. As you know I love bridges so uploading a picture. Pleased with the day will be wearing warmer clothes tomorrow.
