We have had a couple of down days.

Highlights included finding a pair of fresh water lakes in the Nickerson National Park which helped as we have discovered they are having a bit of a shark problem on the cape!

... at the front of the boat and happened quickly- poor Ruth was just too small and adults leaned out in front of her.

Exhilarating experience. They are just so huge.

Back on dry land we explored Princetown. Great galleries and paintings tempting but not practical. Tom missing his Afternoon Tea but did find great cookies in Joe's cafe- still had tea in paper cups but as weather awesome (lovely breeze and 81 degrees) we were more forgiving.

... American tribe the lighthouse will be lost. I arrived back at Oak Bluffs just in time to catch the 2:15pm ferry back to the mainland. In the late afternoon we drove to Provincetown. Provincetown, located near the very tip of Cape Cod is often called "P-town". The town is known for its beaches, harbour, artists, tourist industry and gay community. Woke up to a blistering hot sun and a cooling breeze. Explored the basement and found deck chairs, beach umbrella and a purple inflatable so headed for the beach at the end of the road- took the car for ease of kit transport.

Fairly eventful as breeze at our house equates to gale on the beach. Lost deck chair, inflatable and wrap up the beach. In the end realised everyone else was land anchoring kit. Ruth had first shark bite- well ok she fell on an underwater rock that had ...

... Vineyard Sound. From his settlement there Gosnold visited Martha's Vineyard many times during the summer he spent in the 'New World'. The native Americans called the island 'Noepe' meaning 'Amid the Waters'- a reference to the two and often conflicting tidal currents at work around the island.
