After leaving the Amish we had a massive drive up to Vermont, we didn't actually make it all the way and had to stay in a Walmart in New York state. We did not realise Vermont was quite so far away! The first sign that it was going to be cold was the frozen lake at the New York State visitor centre, we hadn’t even made it as high as Vermont yet! At the Walmart we decided to upgrade our back window cover from Alex’s plastic pack cover to a slab ...

Although it took 11 hours to get from DC to Randolph, it was A LOT better than flying since we would still be waiting for our flight today I bet. We scooted out of DC just as THE BIGGEST STORM EVER was coming in. Didn't really see much snow at all on the way up but Amtrack did cancel all northbound trains the next day.
So you know how the train goes - sway sway, choo choo, read, sleep, eat, stand up and stretch - repeat. But it was a bit surprising ...

... cone chunks. Delicious, even for breakfast. Of course we grabbed a pint of Half Baked to share back at the RV. Before leaving, I headed out back and up the hill to visit the Flavor Graveyard. Any flavor marketed, that flops, is retired and given a granite gravestone with a cute and catchy little poem. It was a great and fun way to begin our day! On to Stowe. . .
