    ... nesting on the tops of the hills. Thousands of pelicans floated on the water hoping for their next meal to swim by; others flew in "V" formation patrolling their area. Their were numerous sea lions in the breakers and beyond looking for prey. They are visible as the waves break and you can see their heads bobbing above the surface.

    ... a special umbrella that had been made by her aunt especially for the purpose.

    This may seem strange, but this area of California has, apparently, a curfew. It was explained to me that it has something to do with events that involve liquor licenses, so the reception was over at 10:00 pm. I prefer an early end to evening events, to tell the truth.

    Into Sorvang a quaint Danish community which was started in 1919 and still exists today. Lots of Danish pastries etc, but after the size of that lunch.....For our bowling friends - one of the buildings was Rasmussen Crafts - must tell Minna.

    ... By the time I stepped out into the cool night and pulled on my dirty, sweaty, smelly riding gear it had been a long day. After bidding Jim and Myra goodbye we rambled back to Bakersfield to set about a late night steak dinner at a diner near our hotel like the hungry folk we were. Considering our makeshift plan, we had managed to enjoy a very fine week and satisfied ourselves that the Bakersfield locals had a few secrets worth discovering.

    Today we headed to the Ravine Waterpark in Paso Robles for a bit of fun in the sun and water. The park had 5 slides of varying heights.  Jasmine's favourite was the toilet bowl!  The girls had their own cabana with lots of pizza, drinks and ice cream.   After a full day of water sliding fun and a few bruised elbows we returned to the house for a fresh fish fry.  The girls made homemade vanilla ice cream and Jim fried up the fresh Lingcod he caught on Monday. ...
