... to "proper" castles bla bla bla. But the house is stunning and the story around it is amazing: it took 28 years to complete and the man himself took great pleasure in inviting guests up for weekends and creating interesting groups of houseguests. Amongst them - Walt Disney, Joe Kennedy, F Scott Fitzgerald, Charlie Chaplin, Shirley Temple, Louis B Meyer... At this point, and on hearing about the ritual of cocktail hour followed by dinner and billiards, I have to say I was a ...

... world with lots to see and do as well as being peaceful and unspoilt. Our first full day we drove into Cape Range NP and all the way to the south of the NP to Yardie Creek. Our entertainment for the day was whilst having our lunch under a shady tree ...

The fair is one long 45 minute queue for 3 minutes of screaming, $10 ...

... including a huge eel that graced us with a rare appearance and a half dozen leopard sharks. After a visit to the sea horse and jellies exhibitions and lunch, we then saw sea otters being fed before we went to the outside tide pool. This pool is open to the ocean but has a natural wall that makes it self-contained except at high tide. Here they do Underwater Explorers, the ability for 8-13yr olds to try out scuba diving. ...

... thought a better sightseeing drive down to Big Sur. A fantastic coastal road for 26 miles taking in some pretty severe cliff faces and narrow stretches of highway.
We arrived for a late lunch at the private Big Sur campground and cabins. We all agreed that the site would def be in our top 3 of the 4 we have visited so far. Although close together we are under huge Redwood trees and by the river which we spent "tubing" down and swimming in during the afternoon. The kids biked ...
