... there before the eruption. There is also a lake on the left hand side called spirit lake. This was there before the eruption but it now has double its surface area and is 65 feet higher due to the eruption feeding into the lake. It is amazing to see photos the day before the eruption and look at the scene now. The trees which were felled by the eruption still lie there. It is as if someone scraped the earth clean.
