This hostel's rooms are more like apartments with 2 bedrooms and a separate during area with TV, DVD, table and chairs, couches, bathroom, all in the rom. We arrived at 5 am from an over night bus and were not charged to check in that early. There is a great communal kitchen area, plus breakfast is included, although simple with breads butter and jam and bananas, however good coffee. We booked 2 tours through the hotel, one to a local archeological site and an overnight trip to visit 3 islands in Lake Titikaka. The tours were inexpensive, cheaper than if we planned ourselves, and amazing in all aspects, worth excellent guides full of good information. The geat WiFi at Inca's Rest is another plus. Hot showers were a bonus.

Hostel is well located in the centre of town near to a large supermarket. We stayed in an 8 bed dorm which was basic but fine especially for the price. Staff are lovely, speak good English and are so helpful. Only thing was it felt a little grubby at times, & the bathrooms needed cleaning more frequently.

      Lori:

We had trouble finding a bus with five empty seats for Tuesday night going from Cusco to Puno, on the shores of Lake Titikaka, heading eventually to Bolivia. So, last minute effort, feeling like it was truly time to leave, as the kids, especially, were itching to move on. On Tuesday morning at 8 am, I wandered through San Blas, and …

I arrived at the bus station in Cuzco nice and early to catch the Puno Hopper to.....Puno!
I was in two minds, I was looking forward to it but not because I knew the altitude was much higher and I wasn't sure how I was going to feel.

We took all day to reach Puno by bus, the group was great and I made friends with the Spanish guy …

We had a bus booked at 8am to Puno, which meant there was no chance of a sleep in after our 4 day trek and late return to Cusco. We were both awake before the alarm anyway, as our body clocks had got use to early wake up calls. To be honest we were also both looking forward moving on and discovering somewhere new. It's funny that after being in one …

Hello everyone! I am back in the land of the living, and am finally able to resume blog writing duties after far too long. Altitude sickness is not very fun at all, but Ollie took excellent care of me. He even allowed me to sleep in his sleeping bag, The Palace, on some nights, which is really a sign of true love. He previously hadn't even let me …

It is a beautiful cultural characteristic how simple things carry such weight here. That night I bought a bottle of Coca Cola that we shared with our homestay family. Their reaction was over the top to my simple gesture. The next morning we left with hugs and goodbyes. Back to Taquile for another night.
